Seattle-area Hindus celebrate Holi, the festival of colors
Local Hindus celebrated the end of winter and the beginning of spring during an annual Holi celebration in Maple Valley on Saturday. Holi, likely one of the most colorful and photogenic of all cultural festivals, traditionally welcomes spring, asks for good harvests and honors events in Hinduism. It is also a time for dancing, a bonfire and of course gulaal, the colored powder thrown on participants.
