Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf terming minorities as an integral part of the Pakistani society said the government was considering promulgation of personal laws for them including the separate marriage and divorce bills for Christians and Hindus.

ISLAMABAD  - The Hindu community living across the globe including Pakistan celebrated the festivity of their festival of lights-Diwali late Monday with religious zeal and fervor. The festivity will continue for 5 days until Saturday, (November 17). The Hindu festival of lights, falls on the day of ‘Amavasyaa’, when the moon does not rise and there is darkness all around.    

Himself a Hindu, Dr Mohan Lal said in a telephonic interview with TheNation that these reports were just a propaganda aimed at maligning the PPP government. He said that over 4 million Hindus were living in Sindh, who considered Sindh and Pakistan as their motherland.

KARACHI  - President Asif Ali Zardari, taking serious notice of the news that Hindus are fleeing from Sindh, has constituted a committee to look into the issue and grievances of Hindu community.

Sectarian deaths have occurred in vast numbers. Hindus are being kidnapped for ransom and 20 percent of the Hindu population of Balochistan have left the province. Settlers in Balochistan have either left or live in fear, as many have been victims of target killings.
